The South Asian Region comprising the BIMSTEC countries is a subcontinent in itself. For more than half a century now, this sub-continent is undergoing rapid economic development in social and economic sectors. This development entails a larger measure of different kinds of energy, electrical, liquid and gaseous to support the industrial production, transportation and other economic activities.
ICC in its commitment to engage deeper with the neighboring countries, in order to understand the investment and business opportunities available in the two economies of South Asia; which form the rudiments of future commercial transition; is planning to organize a Business Delegation to Bangladesh from 6th to 8th August 2023. The objective of the business delegation would be to understand the business and investment opportunities available in the two economies of South Asia and to explore avenues for collaboration. The delegation will constitute of Business Forums and Business to Business (B2B) meetings focused on the Energy, Education, Health, and Agriculture during the three day visit.
India has taken the lead in providing transmission networks from Nepal, Bhutan and Bangladesh to India, which is a ready market for energy. The cooperation between Bhutan and India in the field of hydroelectric power is a shining example of prosperity with Green Power. India and Nepal have traditional links of economic and electrical cooperation. Bangladesh and India have identified the areas of immediate economic cooperation in the field of power and the potential is great. India and Sri Lanka have also been working on cooperation in the field of energy. India has acquired expertise in manufacturing, installation and maintenance of thermal and hydro power stations, transmission and distribution sub-stations as well as contract management of the entire value chain of thermal, hydro, solar and wind energy projects. In the petroleum and gas sector, expertise is available in the field of refineries petrochemical complexes, pipelines and port terminals.
India has succeeded in taking electricity to every home in the country. It is equally important to ensure that the supply of electricity is reliable and that it is metered so that the efficiency of the electricity transmission and distribution system along with its financial viability is ensured. As the distribution networks are widened and become more intense, electrical control and management systems also need to be upgraded. Remote metering, billing and recovery of electrical dues have to be developed alongside the distribution and granular scatter of the system. India has gone through the pangs of rural and household electrification. Its experience and expertise in the field can be shared with BIMSTEC countries so that they are able to benefit from the experience in India.
The Chamber cordially invites you to join the Business Delegation, which will surely enhance the stature of the Delegation and make the initiative meaningful for business opportunities, ideas and networking with the stakeholders.
