Event Details

Dear Sir,

Amid rising global carbon dioxide emissions and their undeniable impact on our climate, humanity must urgently address climate change. The past two decades have seen an unprecedented increase in emissions, leading to severe consequences like extreme weather events, natural disasters, and ecosystem disruption worldwide.

Climate change manifests in various ways, posing numerous challenges. Extreme weather events and natural disasters have become more frequent and severe. Rising sea levels cause coastal erosion and increase vulnerability to hurricanes and floods, while prolonged droughts disrupt ecosystems, agriculture, and water supplies. Despite some progress, challenges persist in achieving international cooperation and implementing ambitious climate policies necessary to limit global temperature rise.

Odisha has increasingly felt the impact of climate change, with noticeable shifts in weather patterns and more frequent extreme weather events. Rising temperatures and erratic monsoon patterns pose significant challenges to the state's agricultural productivity and water resources management. In response, the Odisha state government, along with local businesses and civil society organizations, has initiated various measures to mitigate and adapt to climate impacts.

The Climate Change Summit 2024, themed "Addressing Global Climate Challenges: A Call to Action," aims to bring together a diverse group of stakeholders, policymakers, scientists, and advocates to tackle pressing environmental issues. The summit will focus on critical issues like soil conservation, land restoration, and waste management.
