Greetings from the Indian Chamber of Commerce!

The Indian Chamber of Commerce is organizing the 4th edition of the "East and North East India Energy Conclave" on 22nd May 2025 at Pine Hall, The Park Hotel, Kolkata.

East and North East India have been endowed with ample Energy and Water resources, which will be the key in the present and future scenarios. Being rich in minerals the coal, iron and other metal industries will have to fulfil the country's present development requirements and also transit to lesser carbon emitting uses. While the coal industry will continue to be the backbone of India's base load electricity sector, it will have to transit to carbon capture utilization and transformation to useful chemicals and products. Water resources are the key to any human civilization. In the Energy sector Hydro Power, Pumped Storage to optimize thermal power and the separation of Hydrogen as a fuel will be at the center of the new Energy paradigm also. All these applications will constitute Green Energy.

Nuclear Power is one of the strongest candidates for clean base load power. East and North East India with its substantial Uranium deposits as well as the large availability of mineral sands on the East Coast will be the non-carbon base load energy of the future.

The ongoing and future energy scenarios will require efficient management of the existing commercial enterprises as well as liberal requirements of investment in future technologies and upgradation of existing utilities and their management. Financial institutions will invest in enterprises that are efficient in their management and utilization of resources. Customer confidence and demand will also find traction in the best-managed enterprises; the ICC is committed to future technologies, best practices, management and customer satisfaction for enhancing good business amongst its constituents and Indian Citizenry.
