About GIPC

Global Intellectual Property Convention (GIPC) is Asia's leading conference for in-house IP counsels and innovators to interact with IP attorneys from around the world to discuss best practices and solutions to maximize the value of their innovation and IP. Since 2009, more than two thousand delegates have participated from over 50 countries.

GIPC brings in experts from various ﬁelds of technology viz Pharma, Biotech, Automobile, Telecom, Information Technology, and Artiﬁcial Intelligence from the industry and from research organisations. It is a common platform for experts dealing with law, technology and commerce which is necessary for the optimisation and leveraging of IP Assets.

Heinz Goddar a German Patent Attorney and European Patent and Trademark Attorney with his office at Munich, as a partner of Boehmert & Boehmert. His technical background (as well as PhD degree) is in physics. He teaches Intellectual Property Law as an Honorary Professor at the University of Bremen, Germany, as a Lecturer at the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC), Munich, Germany, and as a Visiting Professor as well as a Lecturer at several further universities in both Asia and U.S.A.. He is a Past-President of LES International and of LES Germany. He has received the Gold Medal of LESI in 2005 and has been inducted into the IP Hall of Fame. Furthermore, he is an ad-personam member of the EPO’s Standing Advisory Committee (SACEPO).

Abhai Pandey is a Partner and leads the Litigation & Enforcement Team at LexOrbis. He focuses on intellectual property litigations, criminal enforcement and contested proceedings at the Trademark and Patent Offices. He also advises clients on brand protection strategies for social media, internet and advertisements and has been successfully running several anti-counterfeiting campaigns in India for a variety of clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies to individual entrepreneurs.
He has successfully resolved cases in favour of the clients and has represented them at multiple forums including several district and high courts, erstwhile Intellectual Property Appellate Board and Indian Trademark and Patent Offices.
He represents a broad range of businesses and industries, including fashion, media & entertainment, publishing, fast moving consumer goods, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, electronics, automobile, and ICT.
Abhai has ran pan-India anti-piracy campaign for global publishing industry in India resulting in criminal raid actions of over 500+ pirate businesses. This was the first ever anti-piracy campaign initiated by the Global Publishing Industry Association on behalf of its member companies. The campaign trained the enforcement agencies on multiple aspects of copyright laws and enforcement in India.
Abhai has led anti-counterfeiting campaigns for luxury goods brands and has organized raid actions across India against leading importers, stockists and online sellers. The campaign involved legal actions against the counterfeit sellers at first generation e-market in early 2000s and open debate of the platform’s liabilities.
He has also led and devised strategies for a group of automobile component companies to stop counterfeiting of their products in north India, particularly in semi-urban and rural markets.
Abhai is actively involved with many IP organizations, including INTA, AIPPI and APAA.

Dr. Rupinder Singh Sodhi, is Managing Director of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, Ltd., (AMUL), which is India’s largest Food Products organization. He has obtained his B.E. (Ag) degree from CTAE, Udaipur, India and then joined Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA). He has received Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science (Honoris-Causa) from Anand Agriculture University.
Dr. Sodhi has headed the Marketing and Sales function of Amul for more than two decades and has spearheaded their highly innovative and widely acclaimed marketing campaigns such as (1) Promoting milk as ‘world’s original energy drink’ & (2) ‘Eat Milk’ campaign motivating Indian youth in include dairy products in every meal and (3) Amul Doodh Peeta Hai India.
He has been instrumental in launching more than 50 new products during his tenure as Managing Director in last six years. He has also spearheaded digital marketing and social media marketing innovations in Indian dairy industry to ensure that younger generation of India enhances consumption of milk and dairy products.

Huw Watkins leads a team of UK and overseas staff. Based in Singapore, Delhi and Riyadh Huw's IP Attaché team support engagement with businesses wishing to export. He is a frequent visitor to India, and has represented the UK as a speaker at many events. He is a former senior police officer, having led teams of detectives in investigations on serious and organised crime, Since joining the IPO, he has become a member of the Global Network of Experts on Transnational Organised Crime, with IP crime and human exploitation his subject matter area. A father of 5 and grandfather to 7 (with one soon to be added) Huw's family life is a busy one. A former competitor, he now enjoys watching cricket, rugby and off road motorcycle events.

Dr. Shankar leads technology innovation for the Automotive & Farm services business (AFS). He heads the intellectual property (Patents) and knowledge management functions. He is also the Dean of the Mahindra Technical Academy.
Shankar is passionate about developing sustainable urban mobility solutions and his current interests span across electric vehicles, connected vehicles, autonomous vehicles and precision farming.
Prior to joining Mahindra & Mahindra, Shankar has held technology innovation leadership roles at GE, Dow, Honeywell and Cummins. He holds ten international patents and numerous new product innovation awards. He was awarded GE”s Edison Inventor Medal early in his career. He has developed a proprietary innovation methodology – Innovation FLOW – and trained 1000 + inventors and innovators.
Shankar obtained a Ph.D in Materials Science and a gold medal for the best doctoral thesis from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. He completed his executive management program from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
Shankar is an avid reader and is interested in physics, philosophy and psychology. He teaches technology innovation management at premier engineering & management institutes in India & abroad.
Shankar was recognized as one of the 50 Innovative leaders at the World Innovation Congress 2020. He is also a TEDx speaker.
Shankar is active in the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and leads the CTO Forum – bringing together technology leaders across the industry to share best-practices on adapting new technologies and driving innovation. He plays an active role in the Management Committee of Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) India Southern Section – he is focused on reskilling automotive engineers on electric mobility. He also serves in the Branding & Communication Committee of SAE India.
