The Indian Chamber of Commerce has made strenuous efforts to galvanize energy entities across India, to move towards the desired energy transition through accelerated adoption of renewable energy across all segments of the economy. The Chamber believes that this global energy transition has to be taken as a developmental and manufacturing opportunity within the country, which can propel India as a major global manufacturing hub.

The Ministry of Power, Government of India has very appropriately instituted a reform-based and results-linked Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), which offers a lifeline to help turn around the fortunes of DISCOMs in a bid to establish a robust, reliable and resilient power sector during this Energy Transition in India. This scheme not only renders a two-track system that is governed under a uniform framework for all the states, it also provides flexibility to the states to include state-specific features in their action plans for prioritizing their investments. These investments in infrastructure are targeted towards reduction of losses, system modernisation and augmentation, implementation of information technology (IT), operational technology (OT) solutions, use of advanced technologies including AI, SCADA and machine learning. The objective is to improve power reliability and quality, reduce losses due to inefficiencies or pilferages in the network.
