The unprecedented acceleration in changes of climate in recent years makes the North Eastern Region of Indian subcontinent a vulnerable hotspot. The region is heading to lose biodiversity at a faster rate which will certainly affect on the cultural diversity and identity of the NE tribes. As a result, an overall paradigm shift is going to be noticed on bio-resources management practices in the region affecting the ethnicity of beneficiary peoples. The development of this region, thus, requires sound socio-ecological planning with proactive mitigation strategies to control the damage to the region's ecology and society & a strong Environmental Impact Assessment can bridge this gap with mandatory identification of sustainable development initiatives.

In order to discuss the various dimensions of climate change and its effects, sustainable means to mitigate the harmful effects of climate change, to help the communities in developing agriculture, food security, land use, forestry, human health, water supply and sanitation and also to suggest a way forward, Indian Chamber of Commerce in association with Assam Climate Change Management Society, Assam State Bio-Diversity Board & Pollution Control Board, Assam is organizing a symposium on "Climate change: impacts, risks and adaptations in North East India" on 1st December 2022 at NEDFi House, Guwahati from 10.30 AM - 5.00 PM.
