The Consumer Protection Act, 2019, came into force in July 2020, replacing the 33-year-old Consumer Protection Act. 1986. The new Act strengthened the legal and policy framework towards achieving the avowed object of better protection of Consumers in India. As Consumer Protection Act provides Consumer Rights to prevent consumers from fraud or specified unfair practices & these rights ensure that consumers can make better choices in the marketplace and get help with complaints, the buyer should be aware when he buys the goods. It is the responsibility of the buyer to check the goods while purchasing them. The need for consumer protection and satisfaction has been widely accepted all over the world.
In order to explore the need and importance of a regulatory framework for consumers and to discuss how the Consumer Protection Act'2020 guidelines will protect the interest of the consumers, the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Amway India are jointly conducting a webinar on the Consumer Protection Act & E-Commerce Policies with the theme of "GUIDELINES TO PROTECT THE INTEREST OF THE CONSUMERS" on 06th August 2021 from 11.00 AM onwards. This webinar will address the analysis of CPA, 2019, Rules and Regulations specifically concentrating on New Chapters like Central Consumer Protection Authority, Mediation, Product Liability & provision relating to E-commerce and Misleading Advertisements. The webinar series will also analyze comparisons between CPA 2019 and CPA 1986 Act.
