India is aiming towards raising the textile exports by three times from the present value of $33 billion. Textile industry is poised towards achieving the target of $44 billion in exports of textiles and apparel, including handicrafts during the current fiscal (2021-22) year.
The textile sector has great growth potential and it should be realized by using innovations, the latest technology and facilitation and by means of enhancing the productivity of local artisans and domestic industry, thus realizing the vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Efforts are being made to bring consistency in the quality of products especially for handloom. The Textile sector contributes 2.3% to India's GDP, 7% of the total industrial output,12% to the export earnings and employs more than 45 million people directly.
As the textile industry is very positive about various announcements and policy decisions by the Ministry of Textiles, therefore, ICC organized the Interactive Session with the Textile Secretary to give the exporters an opportunity to learn about well thought out strategies.
Current Announcements on RoDTEP and PLI along with new Opportunities for the Textile and Garment Industry will be shared by the Secretary.
